David Chalkley

David is a highly experienced Pharmacist, Clinical Safety Officer and member of the Faculty of Clinical Informatics.

Clinical Safety Officer

David is an NHS Digital Leadership Academy Graduate and Faculty of Clinical Informatics member, with over 8 years’ experience leading and delivering digital clinical risk management strategy within an NHS Trust, working with a broad range of solutions and suppliers. He is an experienced Pharmacist, specialising in Surgery and Critical Care before transitioning into digital leadership.

David’s extensive clinical risk management expertise was developed deploying the DCB0160/0129 in the dynamic environment of a Global Digital Exemplar (GDE) programme. As an NHS Associate Chief Clinical Information Officer and Innovation Lead, he has shaped the governance structure and process to centre patient safety, user engagement and standards compliance at the forefront of any digital transformation.

He has distilled the key learning points from the GDE change journey, into several GDE Blueprints. This is now providing practical advice and structured safety templates for other Trusts to adapt and adopt, scaling best practice. David has strived to support a learning culture within digital healthcare and has presented at a range of national events on topics that he is passionate about, such as clinical safety and solution design.
