I am a senior nursing professional with more than 20 years’ experience of the National Health Service, serving in acute clinical care and managerial settings.

Principal Clinical Safety Officer

I have retained my General Nursing Registration and have significant clinical expertise in Critical Care Nursing, having worked for 13 years as a Senior Nursing Sister in a nine bed Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire.

Having worked on national programmes and most significantly the National Programme for IT in 2006, I realised the importance of Information Technology in health care delivery. This was followed by posts in the health care IT industry and the NHS. During this time I have led in clinical governance and risk management roles, ensuring the safe delivery and implementation of health care IT solutions. I have specialised in the delivery of the DCB0160 and DCB0129 clinical safety standards. I have also delivered the requirements to meet ISO 14971 medical device risk management and hold CQI IRCA ISO 13485:2016 Internal Auditor certification.

I remain passionate about improving the patient experience and enhancing clinical practice to ensure patient safety. Improved patient outcomes are the core principle upon which innovative health care technologies are developed. Each of my clinical roles working within health care IT have entailed promoting excellence in IT development as an enabler to promote this principle, with the patient as the focus.
