Jane Wood

Jane has extensive experience in the development of digital products and services within the commercial and public sectors.

Jane trained in Fine Art and attained a Masters Degree in Digital Media Design, going on to teach Art & Design as a lecturer for several years on a variety of undergraduate and post-graduate programmes.

Jane is passionate about creating user-centred products and services and has engaged with a wide variety of stakeholders in health and care.  She works creatively using a range of service design tools and techniques to understand user needs placing co-design at the heart of meeting people’s needs.

As Research Project Manager at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), she co-designed mihealth, a personalised online support tool developed with and for breast cancer patients. As Managing Director of mihealth Limited, a spin-out from LJMU, she worked with key NHS organisations and charities to implement the service in several public and private healthcare settings across the UK.

In her role as Senior Creative Designer at Thrive by Design (mHabitat) she led the re-development of MindWell, the multi-award-winning mental health information website to the WordPress platform.  She delivered a series of co-design workshops working with users to inform the redevelopment and collaborated with Leeds City Digital Partnerships Team to plan the integration of MindWell to Leeds Open Online Platform (LOOP).

As Head of Media and Design at Luto research, she led the co-design of communication resources to improve the patient and staff experience in the Royal Berkshire Hospital Emergency Department. She led the development of medical device Instructions for Use and planned and produced storyboards and scripts for instructional videos. Working closely with project teams and external agencies she provided creative input to the development of a broad range of patient information materials to enhance engagement and improve health literacy.

Jane joins ETHOS to drive our mission to improve safety technology design and deployment across the sector.
